The Secret Life of Your Pet

They watch you leave as you’re out the door in the morning and greet you when you come home at the end of the day. But ever wonder what your dog does while you’re out of the house? What our canine companions get up to is a bit of a mystery, that’s why we wanted to give you an inside look into the daily life of your pet.

A Dog’s Life

No, they don’t organize friendly card games while you’re away, most of the time dogs’ lives are pretty simple. So what does your dog do when they’re home alone? While a dog’s life can be rough, a lot of dogs spend their spare time catching up on rest and sleeping in their favorite spots.  Some breeds , such as boston terriers, miniature schnauzers, and larger dogs such as bull mastiffs are well suited for spending several hours on their own.

However,  not all dogs  are suited for spending time left home alone. While faithful and loving dogs, some breeds, like toy poodles and australian shepherds, are prone to separation anxiety, and anxious behavior can be channeled in negative and destructive ways. Other breeds, like fox terriers, are high energy and if left alone too long can wreak havoc on your home. So, what can you do if you’re looking to avoid having Rover redecorate your living room or “reorganize” your shoes?

Doggy Daycare to the Rescue

While walking your dog before you leave for the day or leaving treats and toys out for them can keep your dog occupied while you’re away, doggy daycare provides you with peace of mind, knowing that your canine companion is being well cared for and staying out of trouble. Experienced caregivers keep an eye on your dog so you don’t have to, and provide them with a wide range of activities, so by the time you bring them home they’re tuckered out and ready to snuggle up with you on the couch. In addition, it provides them with the opportunity to interact with other dogs, helping them to develop strong social skills.
